CAN you all just SEE?
It has offically begun. My son has gotten in trouble at school for saying some verbally mean things to another boy in his gym class and was sent to the principals office.
I am frustrated and disappointed. I am angry and sad. I have spent the last 24 hours crying, talking about my feelings with friends, and family. Nothing seems to make me feel better. And just to make myself clear, I am not having all these feels towards my son's behavior but rather with how the teachers have dealt with the situations.
Flashbacks of what kindergarten was like has sweep through my mind and all I want to do is scream at the teachers at school and the principal about my frustrations. No one seems to respect my son's boundries. Instead of giving him what he is seeking in each classroom setting, the adults that are responsible to teach him refuse to help. I am the one they punish by calling me into thier offices and pointing out that he is not getting along with a certain child in class.
I feel the need to stand up for my son, be his advicate and explain to others that he has "space/boundries" issues. He does not like to be touched by some people. He diserves to be heard and others should respect his boundires. Yet no one at school seems to see that.
I wish that others could just see that he is not doing the things he does because he wants attention or to truely be mean. He does and says the things he does because he feels no one hears him or reads his body language about how he feels about certain students in classes. I know for a fact that there is other students in his classes that have issues of physical boundries and have been all over my son rough housing and yet after being told or reminded are not sent to the principal's office for their behavior. And I also know that my son can play nicely with other kids, yet there is a few in each class that he has a hard time sitting next to or being required to play with. I just wish that the teachers would be sensitive to my son's needs like they are of others, and allow him the opportunity to not be paired up with these other kids.
When you have a child that is labled a bully it is just as hard as the parent of the child that is being bulled. Specially if your son has developmental issues for his behavior. And the school is not willing to help him succeed.
