Been Way To Long

Long Time NO BLOGGING!

To be honest I have not been into blogging for quite some time.  I guess you grow out of things.  But I think I am glad to be back and document the things that have been going on in my life and my families life.  Besides, it is always really sweet to look back at posts and remember things, or be shocked what you wrote about.

That being said I have a lot to update:

I have a 11 yr old son and a now 8 yr old daughter.  They grew UP!

My son is in 6th Grade and he is attending Public School.  Actually the IDEA Schools - their Judson Campus.  I believe the last I wrote I was homeschooling him for 1st Grade????  We did homeschool for 1st - 4th grade but after our big MOVE last summer (2015), he wanted to try public school.  He did well, but it was a bit to easy for him witch caused him to act out behavior wise.  He has also been diagnosised with some anxiety disorder so that raises "Its" ugly head with bad behavior and poor discipline. Last year also ended on a sour note when some of the other 5th grade boys he was friends with stopped being friends and instead got aggressive with him.  I found him being chased down the street to my house and the boys tackling him in our front yard.  It was traumatic for me and for him. For several weeks the boys harassed him and myself when it was time to be picked up from school.  It sadly continued into the summer, leaving my son paranoid to go outside the house.

This new school for 6th Grade we hope will help him feel safe, and challenged.  It is still the beginning of a new school year so they are still getting all students on the same page.  But they are an AP school and they work towards getting all students to attend college upon graduation.  They are big on rules and schedules and organization. The hours are long!  7:30am - 4pm.  It is across town so it takes a drive to get there, about 30-45 mins to get there.

My daughter just started 3rd grade this week.  She is a the same school both kids attended last year.  It is nice to have it so close to our house.  We walk together every morning to get the free Breakfast offered.  Breakfast is offered at 6:45am!!!  And school starts at 7:00am.  It is EARLY. but then she is home early, 2:45pm.  She is liking her two teachers this year.  And is happy that one of her BFF's is in her class with her again this year.

So every one in Texas does things differently then I have been use to.  I have been here a year and I still feel out of place.  I am grateful for the sunshine but I sometimes feel like it is only a temp stay here.  It might be the house we are renting now, the fact that I don't feel like it is really home.  Or that I can't seem to keep up with the way people drive here.  Very aggressive and chaotic.  Most don't follow the common rule of not passing on the right.  And most people seem very impatient.  Maybe that is because the city is huge and spread out, or the exhausting heat that melts your brain cells as you are driving.

I hope to sit down often and document the stuff that I have been doing this 2nd yr in Texas.  The joys and the struggles that I go through daily.  Again to be able to share with LemonDrop and to remind myself that this too shall pass.  :)  Stay tuned!

CAN you all just SEE?

It has offically begun.  My son has gotten in trouble at school for saying some verbally mean things to another boy in his gym class and was sent to the principals office.

I am frustrated and disappointed.  I am angry and sad.  I have spent the last 24 hours crying, talking about my feelings with friends, and family.  Nothing seems to make me feel better. And just to make myself clear, I am not having all these feels towards my son's behavior but rather with how the teachers have dealt with the situations.

Flashbacks of what kindergarten was like has sweep through  my mind and all I want to do is scream at the teachers at school and the principal about  my frustrations.  No one seems to respect my son's boundries. Instead of giving him what he is seeking in each classroom setting, the adults that are responsible to teach him refuse to help. I am the one  they punish by calling me into thier offices and pointing out that he is not getting along with a certain child in class.

I feel the need to stand up for my son, be his advicate and explain to others that he has "space/boundries" issues. He does not like to be touched by some people.  He diserves to be heard and others should respect his boundires.   Yet no one at school seems to see that.

I wish that others could just see that he is not doing the things he does because he wants attention or to truely be mean.  He does and says the things he does because he feels no one hears him or reads his body language about how he feels about certain students in classes.  I know for a fact that there is other students in his classes that have issues of physical boundries and have been all over my son rough housing and yet after being told or reminded are not sent to the principal's office for their behavior.  And I also know that my son can play nicely with other kids, yet there is a few in each class that he has a hard time sitting next to or being required to play with.  I just wish that the teachers would be sensitive to my son's needs like they are of others, and allow him the opportunity to not be paired up with these other kids.

When you have a child that is labled a bully it is just as hard as the parent of the child that is being bulled.  Specially if your son has developmental issues for his behavior.  And the school is not willing to help him succeed.

Time Flies!

Another year has almost come and gone.  To much to explain...but lets just say I am blessed to have good friends in my life who care about me, and don't want to move on.  It has been a challenging year with my kids and family.  It has been hard, but I am determined to make it through each day.

One big change that has happened is I got a puppy.  She is a "Bug" = Boston Terrier + Pug.  Her name is Cloe, and she is the cutest thing ever.  My kids love her.  Maybe a little to much love actually.

Here is a picture of the cute little (big) thing.  She is no longer a tiny puppy.

Fall is in the air.

There is no denying it.  Fall has finally really arrived.  Even though the thought of what comes next makes me sad,  I am still enjoy watching the leaves turn colors and the wind blowing them around.  It looks like it is snowing red, orange, or yellow.  The yards in my neighborhood are covered in leaves.  They seem to sweep color all around the neighborhood.

I got my daughter dressed up in her Fall Dress and we went outside in the sunshine (which seems to be less and less these days) and took some random pictures.  Here are my two favorite.

There will only be a few more days of the color then it will completely turn gray and cold.
Enjoying while I can.

Turning

The weather is turning here too. "Burrrr" seems to be all I can say today.

Spent the last few days working on activites with the kids for Halloween. They really are enjoying the Halloween Advent Calendar.
We also spent about an hour yesterday in my bed reading several stories we got from the library yesterday. It was fun to cuddle up with both of my kids.

It has been a hard week.  Well not really.  Yesterday just seemed to take forever to finish.  Very happy for the break today.

Went to the doctor today.  I wanted to get my Vit D checked.  Ladybug got to come with me.  The ladies in the office thought she was the cutest thing.  I am proud of how good she is.  :)  I should find out in the next few days what I need to do about my Vit D levels.  It is turning darker and gloomy with the weather and I tend to be more gloomy too.  I am hoping to help this year.

LemonD will be there as always.  Wish we lived closer so we could go out for a warm cup of hot coco or Chi Tea.  But Skype will have to do one of these evenings.  And yes we will both have to have a cup of hot coco with little marshmellows.

Blur

My kids often get a hold of my camera and take random pictures.  I find finger print smugges on my lens and all over the buttons.  It is annoying most of the time.  Sometimes though when I go through the pictures they have taken I am surprised by a photo.  To be honest, this picture above I was going to delete at first, then I stopped and took another look.  Even though it is blurry and the lighting is bad, it still has some appeal to me.  It shows my daughter in mid-movement.  She is constantly on the go, and has a smile on her face. This picture represents these traits.

Have no idea....

My son still has no idea what he wants to be for Halloween this year.

So unlike him.  Frustrating to me...as I am the one who is going to have to come up with the stuff to make the costume.

Ladybug wants to be a princess and she will say this 100+ times a day.  Getting OLD!  But cute.

Bus Trips

It is Friday.  The end of a busy week.  The weekend looks to be just as busy.

Thankful for LemonD calling me today to check on me.  It was Sweet.  I wish I had more time during the day.  There just is not enough time.

School work with my son went well.  He only complained about it a few times.  Wish that would end, but probably will never.  He is really good at learning certain subjects.  Science he loves but I don't like to teach him.  For some reason I feel stupid and dumb trying to explain the subject.

Ladybug got to go to her baby sitter's house today.  She packed up her Dora Backpack with her Princess Stuff and wore it proudly over to the sitters house.  She loves to go over and play and it helps me and Bug to have some quiet to work on school stuff.  So win win.

This afternoon we met up with my husband (aka Dad) and rode his bus for a bit.  My husband is a couch operation (aka bus driver) for the city we live in.  The kids were so excited to meet up with Dad on his bus and were eagerly waiting for his bus to arrive at the bus stop.  They were both well behaved on the drive.  Made me happy how good they are.  Then came break time.  Once everyone was off the bus the kids got to climb in the drivers seat.  They had fun playing with the switches.  Opening the doors and honking the horn.

Am feeling a bit sad - and called my Doctor to discuss what to do this winter.  I get SADS bad and might have to up my dose of vit D.  I don't want to have a winter like I did last year.  Granted things are different then last year, but I already feel the gloom settling on me like a thick paste.  I want to nip this in the bud if I can.

Unhappy Honey

Well internet went down yesterday.  Made me one unhappy Honeybee.  My son (aka:Bug) and I were attending an online class for the school he is attending.  We had our headphones on and were sitting cozy on the couch with the lap top infront of us.  We were excited for the Math Class to start.  They were teaching TIME.  It was a subject that Bug is good at and interested in.  But right when the class started we got "Kicked Out".  Bug was worried that the teacher had removed  him because he pushed the smilie face icon to much.  But the internet actually stopped working.  We managed to get it to work again 10 mins later but then when we got in the class again we were "kicked out" again.  It was frustrating.

Because of the internet not working I had to pull out the crafts!!!!!  CRAFT TIME!!!!  Woot woot.

Since it is October and my son loves Halloween we have been getting ready for the epic holiday.  :)

We made a Halloween Advent Calendar to count down the days tell Halloween.

Here is a picture of the Pumpkin hanging from our front door.

Each day we take off a green ring and read what activity we get to do that day.  Tonight will be a camp out in the living room.  Bug wanted to have us watch movies and fall a sleep on the couch.  We will see how it goes.

I hope to get a chance to check in with Lemondrop.  Maybe we could Skype tonight and have the kids watch each other for a bit before it is time for movies.  Good idea!!!

Honeybee Introduction

Well I am finally getting some quiet from my day.  My days are so busy lately.  But that is life with kids right.  Young kids and I am sure when they grow up to be tweens and teens too.  It is never ending.

Lemondrop my bestest friend ever in the world asked me if I would create a blog with her.  She was persistent, but hey who am I to denie my best friend ever the opportunity to blog with me.  So I agreed.  She set it up and orders me now to introduce myself.    :))

So, a little bit about myself.  Well I am the mother of two kids.  I have gone through infertility issues and because of that experience I have been blessed to have gone through the opportunity of adopting my son who was a Foster Child in 2006.  After trying to get pregnant for almost 10 years - using infertility treatments with no success, I finally found out on Christmas Eve of 2007 that I was pregnant.  My daughter was born in August of 2008.

I am married, and we are about to celebrate our 15th Anniversary.  I have done many types of crafts, and hobbies, and have had several types of jobs in my past.  But I would have to say that my current job is the hardest job I have ever done.  I am a full time Mommy.  I do have the privilege to stay home with my children.  My husband has a good paying job that allows me to be home to take care of the house and the children.  Everyone seems to say it is a full time job, and I would agree with them.  It has its ups and downs.  But I have to say, watching my kids sleep makes up for all the hard moments we went through during the day.

I currently am Homeschooling (or rather Schooling at Home) my 6 yr old son.  He has some social behavior issues and finds it difficult to participate in a public school setting.  Last year I got a call from the principal every day about something he did wrong in class, and he was suspended 3 times last school year.  I did attend school with him the last month and to be honest, if I was a 5-6 year old in that classroom I would have been a crazy child too.  It was way to loud and busy for my taste. After weeks of debating what to do, I finally called a virtual academy and signed my son up for an online school for this school year.

He is doing great in schooling at home with me.  It has been a challenge.  I have screamed and wanted to pull my hair out because he is not paying attention to the lesson I am teaching him, but I do see some learning taking place.  He enjoys the freedom of being home to work, and he enjoys getting the opportunity to spend more time with his Dad.  I am happy to report too that even though my son is in 1st grade he was moved up to 2nd grade Literature and Comprehension. He has always been very gifted when it has come to reading.

Enough about my kids.  There will be plenty of future articles about them.

How did I meet Lemondrop?  I met Lemondrop in a very unusual place.  An Online Network Community.  We hit it off quickly, and had a lot in common.  Lemondrop has lifted me up when I have gone through some dark times in my life the past two years.  It seems like we have always known each other.  She knows what I am thinking, what to say to me when I am down.  She has encouraged me to do things I would never have done, and has picked me up when I have emotionally fallen.  She is strong.  She is funny.  She is someone whom I want to be when I grow up.  And like she has said, even though we are different in ages, we do often feel like we were separated at birth.  It is hard to find a friend like that.

We have yet to meet face to face, but that does not stop us.  We chat daily, and talk several times during the week.  The Internet is an amazing tool.  I am glad I have Lemondrop in my life.  I know I am a better person because of her.
